Muslim Council of Sri Lanka expresses condolences on passing of Mangala

The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka, on behalf of the Muslim community expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family on the passing of former Minister Mangala Samaraweera. “He has always stood by his principles and did not waver on issues of co-existence, reconciliation, ethnic harmony and human rights,” the Council said. The Council also pointed out that Samaraweera’s career will go down in history as a model for young politicians. “He was bold, sincere and forthright in his decisions of national importance,” they said. The Council added that his commitment to peace, democracy and national reconciliation was unmatched, while saying that there is no doubt that the high standards he set will be a challenge to emulate by future generations.
