National Development Media Center will not impose media restrictions

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella today (17) stated that no media restrictions will be imposed by the National Development Media Center.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the National Development Media Center at the Government Information Department to publicize the development information of the national policy framework of the government.

He said that criticisms of certain development activities in the country should be accepted without dismissing.

“We should be prepared to learn from them. Some call it a development programme and tie it to a government. Such development programmes should not be tied to a government. Development is something that is done to the citizen of the country,” he stated.

“Therefore, it is our responsibility to raise awareness about development as well as to respect the views of the people in this regard. In order to fulfill that responsibility, we need to gather information, respond to those ideas, and find out the truth, ” he said.
