The IDH Hospital is currently operating above its capacity due to new admissions, a representative of IDH hospital said today (22).

It can accommodate 120 patients and currently treats 138 Covid patients.

It was also stated that all the 8 beds in the intensive care unit are occupied.

About 20 percent of the patients in the hospital were given oxygen.

At the same time, the need for oxygen is reported to have increased.

According to hospital sources, the number of infected people has increased after the Sinhala New Year.

Meanwhile, Dr. Chandana Gajanayake, Deputy Director of the Colombo National Hospital, commented on the situation at the Colombo National Hospital with the increase in the number of Covid infections.

"The nursing staff and medical staff of the National Hospital are specially trained and prepared to treat such complications," he said.
