As of last evening (19), the judiciary had not granted permission for convicted MP Premalal Jayasekara to attend the inaugural session of Parliament.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam told The Morning that there had been no development with Jayasekara.

“He has not yet been granted leave by the courts to attend the first session of Parliament on Thursday (today, 20),” Kariyawasam said.

He said that as such, the SLPP was uncertain of the MP’s attendance.

“We are not sure if MP Jayasekara will be able to take part in the first session of Parliament due to this reason.”
