Noalie Aanya Wickramasinghe from Bambalapitiya is a student of Noah’s Ark Montessori, Colombo 5. She loves to do crafts, paint, and help her mother when she is in the kitchen. She has three dogs and one of them is still a puppy. She loves taking care of this new puppy.

In an interview with Little Stars, Aanya spoke about her favourite things.

Here’s what she shared with us.

Can you tell us more about you?

My name is Noalie Aanya Wickramasinghe and I am 4 years old. I reside in Bambalapitiya. My father is a doctor and my mother is a zoologist. I love to do crafts, painting, mathematics, and learning new letters.

My best friends are Ester and Senali. I have three pet dogs. I can now ride the bicycle with help. Very soon I will be able to ride it without any help. I like to help mom when she bakes cakes and cooks.

What are your favourite things?

I love singing songs, nursery rhymes, and Sri Lankan Baila songs. My favourite movies are Matilda and Jack and the Giant Slayer. I love Matilda because of all the magic she can do. My favourite fairytales are Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. And my favourite character in it is the Beast. I love it when my mom tells me bedtime stories.

I love to visit parks where I can play and to go for a swim. I miss doing them so much. We can’t still go to those places because of Covid-19. I love to travel too.

Where do you like to travel the most?

Nuwara Eliya, Yala, and Wilpattu.

What is your favourite animal?

Cats.

If you could have had a kitten what would you name it?

I would name it Simba. Because of the dogs, I can’t keep a kitten.

Can you tell us more about the crafts that you like to do?

I like to do crafts using vegetables, plant leaves, and watercolours by making stencils and printing. My mother and my teachers at the nursery help me to do the crafts. Also when it rains my grandfather helps me to make paper boats and float them away in rainy water.

What do you like the best: pastels, colour pencils, or watercolours?

I love using watercolours because I can do experiments by making new colours by mixing them.

Can you tell us more about your pet dogs?

I have three dogs, one of them is Teddy and the second one is Outsider. They are grown-up dogs. On my fourth birthday, I got a puppy named Bambi who is two months old. I love feeding and looking after her.

Can you tell us a little bit about how you help your mom when she is baking?

I help my mother by beating the eggs and mixing the cake mixture using a spatula. It is very interesting how everything becomes soft and creamy at the end of mixing. I also don’t forget to taste the cake batter before baking.

Can you tell us one special thing you saw when you visited Yala and Wilpattu?

I saw a sloth bear who stood with his legs and looked at us. My father told me that they usually walk with four legs and that they rarely stand up.
