A patient diagnosed with the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus has left the country and his whereabouts are unknown said Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath.
He made this statement during a media brief today (17).
"The sample had been collected at the Bandaranaike International Airport upon arrival and was confirmed to be of the Omicron variant. The passenger had arrived in the country with another individual and both have tested positive for covid, but only one was confirmed as an Omicron infected patient. The patient has left the country and his whereabouts are currently unknown,” said Dr Herath.
Dr Herath further mentioned that the residence of the Omicron infected individual is unknown as well.
"All we know right now is that he has left the country and right now we are working on contact tracing," concluded Dr Herath.
