An accident has been reported in the Welisara, Mahabage area, killing one person and severely injuring 4 others. The accident had happened a short while ago, The Morning learns, as confirmed by Mahabage Acting Officer in Charge C I Priyadarshana. "A 16 year old boy was driving from Mahabage to Negombo. The vehicle had spun out of control and had crossed tracks to the opposite side of the road and crashed into 1 three-wheeler, 02 bikes and 01 car. The 2 on the scooters are in critical condition and are currently at Ragama General Hospital. One other patient is the sister of the 16 year old driver, and the other was a bystander," confirmed C I Priyadarshana. He added that an investigation has begun already, and the 16 year old driver is arrested. "We have arrested the 16 year old boy. His sister was also in the vehicle and she is currently receiving treatment for injuries in hospital. The first thing we want to know is where the parents were when these 2 children have taken the car and left the house. This is negligence in a major scale," said C I Priyadarshana.
