A youth has been shot dead in the Elakanda area in Wattala, it is learnt. Speaking to The Morning today (14), Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that the youth was shot dead in front of the HNB bank ATM. "The youth's name is Nipun Chandana and he is 23 years old. He was at the HNB bank ATM and just as he stepped out, two gunmen pulled up in a bike and shot the victim. He is a resident of the Mattakkuliya area. Police are currently at the scene and we are looking into the matter immediately," said Thalduwa.
