Our policy is to present a mixture of organic and chemical fertilizers for agriculture: JVP

The policy of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is to introduce a mixture of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizers to enhance agriculture, leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated.

He said that chemicals were everywhere in the country currently and eradicating chemical fertilizers completely is impractical.

“Therefore we propose the mixture of both organic and chemical fertilizers. How this would work is by using organic fertilizers as the base so that the crop will not be affected,” he said.

This statement was shared on September of 2019 and the Leader of the JVP reiterated on it on his Facebook page yesterday (10).

Further, he stated that this is for the benefit of the agriculture development in Sri Lanka, and that he was not interested in other factors except the strengthening of this sector.

“We are not here to come into power and get through five years. We are here to make a difference. We never thought that in this country, where there is plenty of water, there would be areas where water was distributed for money. This country is going down a dangerous path and we will do whatever we can to stop this,” he stated.
