Over 400 arrested for violating quarantine laws

Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that 187 mobile vendors were inspected in the Western Province yesterday (06) under quarantine regulations.

DIG Ajith Rohana further stated that 852 various institutions were also inspected.

Day care centers, tutoring classes, indoor playgrounds and restaurants were inspected.

Ten persons have been arrested for violating the quarantine instructions.

Another 14 people have been sent to quarantine on the instructions of health officials.

Relevant operations are being carried out today as well.

Meanwhile, 436 people were arrested yesterday for violating quarantine rules.

101 of them were arrested during a search operation in the Pettah and Dam Street areas.

Accordingly, the highest number of arrests in a single day from last October to date was made yesterday.
