Over 700 shops at the new Manning Market, Peliyagoda opened for wholesale operations today (14), the Prime Minister's Office said. A total of 768 shops opened out of the 1,200 available. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa instructed the officials to give a 50% discount to those who opened the shops. Lal Hettige, President of the Manning General Trade Union, earlier said wholesale trading would take place from 4.00 pm to 12.00 midnight at the new market.
