Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranathunga stated today (07) in Parliament that a total amount of Rs. 445,319, 656 has been generated through the Mattala Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport since it opened in March 2013 until November 2020.
He responded to a question by Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Hesha Withanage, stating the total cost of construction of the Mattala Airport was US $ 247.7 million, which would amount to about $ 49.5 billion in today's value.
Further, he stated that 58,651 passengers had arrived and 73,513 passengers had departed through the airport since March 2013 until November 2020.
