A high level government delegation is expected to visit the United States soon to seek funds in order to boost the economy following the recent political crisis.
Asked about the visit, State Minister of Finance Eran Wickremeratne said that he could not confirm details.
However, he said the Government will seek immediate financial assistance from the international monetary agencies such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) to ensure the financial stability of the country.
He told The Sunday Morning that all efforts would be taken to restore the economy which suffered during the political crisis at the end of last year.
“The Government will talk with international partners includes World Bank, IMF and other funding agencies such as JICA and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) who had stopped funding for Sri Lanka due to the political crisis,” the State Minister added.
