PCoI recommends to strengthen extradition laws
The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) on Easter Sunday attacks has recommended that the extradition laws in Sri Lanka should be strengthened.
This was revealed in the PCoI final report. “Extradition laws should be strengthened to extradite terrorist suspects who are in foreign countries for action be filed in Sri Lanka,” it recommended.
The PCoI also proposed to appoint a committee to propose suitable amendments to the Exchange Control Act. “It was in evidence that some of the amendments brought to the Act in 2017 did not provide for some of the investigations that were possible prior to the amendment,” it said.
Under Fnancial System recommendations, the PCoI said licensing/ registration mechanism for informal money or value transfer service providers should be introduced.
