PCR testing: NHSL to conduct tests in future

Hemas Holdings PLC, at the request of the Sri Lanka Cardiologists’ Association, yesterday (22) donated a real-time PCR machine to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) in Colombo. Accordingly, patients who are on the waiting list for daily surgeries will be able to undergo PCR tests expeditiously,” NHSL Deputy Director Dr. W. Kumara Wickramasinghe told The Morning. The machine worth Rs. 5 million was donated to the NHSL at the Ministry of Health premises, where Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi had appreciated the gesture of goodwill of Hemas Group. The PCR machine was handed over to Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi by Hemas Holdings PLC Executive Director Murtaza Esufally, Chief Executive Officer Kasturi Chellaraja Wilson, and Chief Operating Officer Dinesh Atapattu and Hemas Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Jude Fernando. Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, NHSL Deputy Director Dr. W. Kumara Wickramasinghe, former Sri Lanka Heart Association President Dr. Stanley Amarasekara, and a group of cardiologists from the Colombo National Hospital too were present at the occasion.
