PM calls all MPs of old Parliament for a meeting on 4 May

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has called all members of the previous Parliament for a meeting on Monday (4), the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The meeting has been called to discuss the current situation faced by the country.

Opposition party leaders last week called for the reconvening of the parliament to assist the government in facing the Covid-19 challenge effectively.

They warned that if further spreading of the pandemic is not decisively halted in the coming few weeks, the country will face the risk of the prevailing public health crisis being compounded by crisis situation in the social, political and economic spheres too.
