PM proposed ban on cattle slaughter

A proposal to ban the butchering of cows in Sri Lanka has been approved by the parliamentary group of the ruling party. A parliamentary group meeting of the governing party was held at the parliamentary premises at 11 a.m. last morning (8). The proposal has been submitted at the meeting by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The Prime Minister has made a proposal to import beef from other countries, instead of butchering cows for beef within the country. Reportedly, the Premier’s proposal has been approved by the parliamentary group.
