Prez will not attend Kushinagar Airport opening

Despite Indian media outlets reporting that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will meet Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi at the inauguration of the new Kushinagar International Airport on October 20, The Morning learns that such a visit will not take place.

Speaking to The Morning, Presidential Spokesman Kingsly Rathnayaka confirmed that the President will not be flying to India for the same.

Indian media reported this week that the Sri Lankan President will be accompanied by a two-dozen-member official delegation and 125 Buddhist monks.
