BY Buddhika Samaraweera The Nuwara Eliya District Secretary has submitted a preliminary investigation report on the Divisional Secretary of the Walapane Divisional Secretariat in the Nuwara Eliya District, who has been accused of sexually abusing several male minor staff members. Speaking to The Morning, Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Nandana Galaboda said that the investigation was initiated following a complaint lodged by a minor staff member of the Walapane Divisional Secretariat, who was recruited under the programme to recruit 100,000 youths to the Government service. He said that several other employees then complained that they too had been sexually abused by the Divisional Secretary in question. “Once the preliminary investigation commenced, the relevant minor employees attached to other Divisional Secretariats and the Divisional Secretary in question were transferred to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government until the conclusion of the investigation. The Public Service Commission (PSC) will take the final decision in this regard after an investigation at the Ministry level,” he further said. Galaboda also said that a court case is being processed following a complaint lodged by the employees in question with the Police regarding the incident.
