Public sector a burden on country: Basil
The country’s public sector has become a burden to the country, and the Government is, therefore, unable to provide any more relief using public funds, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa said.
Addressing the media at the Government Information Department yesterday (13), Rajapaksa said that state expenditure on the public sector had become unbearable.
“I don’t think we need to give lozenges anymore. We have to accept that the public sector is a burden on the country’s economy if we are to provide any relief to the public sector using public funds,” he said.
The Finance Minister added that the public sector could not be expanded any further.
