Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to step down as leader of the United National Party(UNP), according to UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawam.
Kariyawam made this announcement following a meeting at Sirikotha – UNP Headquarters today.
Speaking to reporters Kariyawasam said his name along with the names of Ravi Karunanayake, Vajira Abeywardena and Daya Gamage have been nominated for the post.
According to Kariyawasam, the final decision on the UNP National List nominee will be taken after reaching a decision on the new leader of the UNP.
