Ranil explains “Iron policy” at 75th Party anniversary celebration

The United National Party (UNP) celebrated its 75th anniversary virtually yesterday (5). In his speech, the UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe spoke about plans related to the 'Iron Policy' the Party has in mind for the future of Sri Lanka. He explained the policy as the only way forward to regain freedom, democracy and economic stability in the country through the implementation of certain objectives the Party considers extremely important. 'Agriculture is paralyzed. Education has come to a standstill. Sri Lanka has become isolated from the world. The country's economy is collapsing....the future of our own daughters and sons, regardless of Party affiliation, will be ruined,” stated the former Prime Minister. In his speech, Wickremesinghe spoke about a plan the UNP has in mind to revive a united Sri Lanka, that brings together all communities, Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Burghers by building a country that protects democracy, human freedom and women's rights as part of the "Greater Sri Lanka" program. Focusing on objectives in mind such as the betterment of education, healthcare, the Paris Agreement related to climate change and economic security, he said this was the long-term plan. The short-term program is to build the country's economy and provide relief to improve the living standards of the people. In conclusion, Wickremesinghe mentioned that the Gods would bless the nation if people make the right choices and decide on an unwavering way forward through an Iron frame that would never change.
