The Ministry of Education will reconsider its decision to reopen schools on 11 May after inquiring from the health authorities on the current situation within the next 10 days, The Morning learnt.
Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told The Morning that any decision pertaining to reopening schools will be taken after discussions with the health authorities.
“We became the first from all the countries to close the schools, when the first Covid-19-infected patient was reported. The reopening of schools will be decided based on the recommendation given by the health authorities. Schools will be only open for the academic staff, later the non-academic staff, then Advanced Level students, and then other students,” added the Minister.
