Rs. 12 billion provided to construct National Hospital in Kurunegala: Pavithra

Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Health stated yesterday (09) that the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital will be converted into a modern technological hospital at a cost of Rs. 12 billion.

The Minister said that the hospital is located in the city of Kurunegala where five main roads connect to each other and a large number of people from other districts also come for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Kurunegala General Hospital, which is second only to the Colombo National Hospital and the Kandy Hospital, has 2374 beds. The hospital has 84 wards and units. There are 06 operating theaters and 65 clinics operating to treat various diseases.

Therefore, the health Minister also stated that the Prime Minister is considering to build a new hospital to replace the existing hospital to provide health services to the people.
