Sajith says all-party Govt. ‘destructive agenda’ of ‘shadow Rajapaksa Govt.’

26 Aug 2022

BY Buwanajee Coralage   Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa criticised the proposed all-party Government system, claiming it to be part of a “destructive political agenda” and therefore urged all citizens to come together to materialise and bring triumph to the aspirations of the general public. “Especially, at this moment of dire necessity, we all should realise that what is needed is an all-party, integrated, joint system. The Government suggests an all-party system, but what they really suggest is not an all-party system and instead an ‘all-destructive, omnivorous mechanism’ that will jeopardise the political system in the country,” charged Premadasa addressing a gathering. Furthermore, he stated: “We would like to declare that we will never go against the public outcry of our dear fellow citizens at the ‘aragalaya’ (struggle) even at the expense of benefits and prestigious posts.  “At this moment, we all should come together to defeat the brutality, violence, and horror reigning in this country. Let us give birth to an era of democracy in our motherland. We will never throw ourselves into violence and brutality. The acquisition of national goals can never be achieved through violence and brutality. It should be done through democracy.  “We should all come together to defeat the Rajapaksa ‘shadow’ Government, which aims to strengthen its own forts of power through the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act as amended (PTA), and instead attain triumph through the aspirations of the general public in the country,” he emphasised while addressing the event yesterday (25).
