Sajith to unleash Fonseka on thieves of public money

28 Apr 2022

BY Buddhika Samaraweera Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that the task of prosecuting those who led the country to bankruptcy by stealing public property will be handed over to SJB MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka under a future government led by the SJB. Speaking to the media yesterday (28), he said: “During the last Presidential Election campaign, I said that national security and the task of prosecuting thieves will be handed over to Field Marshal Fonseka. There is no change in that statement. Under a government led by us, he will be tasked with bringing to justice those who stole public property and recovering the foreign currency that was looted from the people.”  He also said that some parties are spreading false propaganda on social media platforms and attempting to create various conflicts between himself and members of the SJB. However, he said, such attempts would not be successful. He was speaking to the media during the protest march organised by the SJB from Kandy to Colombo, demanding the immediate resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the present Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna led Government. SJB members and supporters commenced the said protest march on 26 April, after worshipping at the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. The march proceeded from near the Kandy fair to the Mawanella Town on that day, from Mawanella to the Galigamuwa Town on 27 April, and from Galigamuwa to the Danowita Town yesterday.  The march will proceed from Danowita to the Yakkala Town today (29) and from Yakkala to the Peliyagoda Town tomorrow (30). The march will end in Peliyagoda and the May Day rally organised by the SJB will be held on 1 May at the Campbell Grounds in Colombo.
