Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader MP R. Sampanthan is reportedly looking at temporarily taking a backseat from active politics following medical advice.
However, the senior politician will continue to lead the TNA and attend party political affairs. It is learnt that he would only refrain from attending political discussions and media conferences, and meeting visitors.
Sampanthan has been representing parliament since 1977, and is one of the few remaining senior politicians in the country.
