Trade Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said that the “Sathosa Sahana Malla” containing 12 essential food items could be purchased from Sathosa outlets from today (01) for a price of Rs. 1,000.
He said this while speaking at a media briefing held at the Ministry of Trade yesterday (31).
This relief package contains one kilogram each of white raw rice, red raw rice, Nadu rice, white sugar, red dhal and wheat flour. It also contains one packet of salt, a packet of chili peppers, a packet of tea and a face mask.
“Despite the global epidemic, the present government has taken all possible measures to safeguard the public and to provide maximum relief to the Sri Lankan consumer despite rising global commodity prices,” the Minister said.
“This time, there will be no increase in the prices of goods during the festive season as compared to other years,” he said.
