5-year-old Shimmer Shaheem wanted to tell us all about his big plans of saving the world someday. He doesn’t plan to do it alone, but of course he will use his Superman powers. He will also reinvent dinosaurs for that!
Could you introduce yourself please?
Hi, my name is Shimmer Shaheem. I am five years old. My school is Royal College. My best friend is my Mama. I like playing with water, swimming, and basketball. I also cook and garden with my grandma. Watching Animal Planet is one of my favourite things to do.
What is a superpower you wish you had?
I wish I was Superman. I like his laser eyes, his flying skills, and his moves.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to go to the beach with my friends and play in the sand. I like painting with my Mama and I like to go swimming, and to swim faster than my uncle. I also like playing with water balloons and going on horse rides.
Tell us some of the animals that you like. What are your plans for them?
I like horses, cats, dogs, cows, elephants, and bears. I want to make my own animal kingdom and take care of all of them before they are extinct. I think it’s important that we don’t let any more animals go extinct.
Do you like waterplay? Why so?
Yes. Because I can put water on myself and play with it and throw water bands. I like that the water is cold.
What is your favourite book?
My favourite book was sent by my aunt. It is a book about dinosaurs that used to live around the world.
Do you like dinosaurs?
Yes. I want to touch them, ride them, play with them, and save the world with them.
Do you wish to own a pet one day?
Yes. I do not mind if it’s a dog, a cat or a cow. I want to play with them.
Why do you like basketball?
Because I can put the ball in the hoop. I like doing that. I play with my uncle.
When you play cricket do you like batting because bowling is hard?
No, but I cannot bowl fast. In cricket, they bowl fast.
What do you want to become when you grow up?
I want to become a scientist and make as many dinosaurs as possible. I want to play cricket, join the Sri Lankan cricket team, and win a trophy for my Mama.
