Following the incident where a video showing Senior DIG Ranmal Kodituwakku attacking a civilian was widely shared on social media platforms last week, shocking details on what allegedly transpired after the civilian was taken to the Kiriella Police station have been revealed.
In a letter addressed to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, lawyers of the victim have alleged that SDIG Kodituwakku had stripped the victim before assaulting him on his neck, head, stomach and genitals.
Several other Police Officers attached to the Kiriella Police Station have also been allegedly involved in the incident, according to the letter.
The President has been requested to ensure that an impartial inquiry and legal action against the culprits takes place.
SDIG Kodituwakku has since been transferred as Senior DIG Medical Services and Welfare.
