58 years on for Palitha’s “Sinhalese revolution”
Fifty-eight years were on yesterday (2) for founding Sinhalese live cricket commentaries on radio. Legendary Palitha Perera made the initiative for the first time for SL Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) on 2 March 1963 in an Ananda-Nalanda “Big Match” at the Colombo Oval. This slowly became an integral part of Sri Lanka’s cricket helping the game to be introduced to the villages resulting in a major cricketing revolution in the island about three decades later.
