Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines donated by China will be administered to Chinese nationals living in Colombo, Kandy, Hambantota and Puttalam from next week, said Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera.
He said that following this, the process of administering the Sinopharm vaccine to Sri Lankan citizens would be initiated as per the recommendation of the expert committee of the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, an agreement has been signed between the State Pharmaceutical Corporation and Russia's Gamaleya Institute to purchase 7 million Sputnik 5 Covid-19 vaccines.
According to the Infectious Diseases Prevention Unit, 919,753 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far.
