SJB appoints new members to top posts

By Sumudu Chamara   The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) on 25 January appointed 31 members to the party’s top positions for the year 2021. SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa, National Organiser Tissa Attanayake, and General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara will continue to serve in their current posts. Attanayake, speaking to The Morning yesterday (26) added that the party also appointed Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as the Party Chairman, and Dr. Harsha de Silva as the Party Treasurer. In addition, the SJB has appointed Kabir Hashim, Imtiaz Bakir Marker, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Kumara Welgama, Ravindra Samaraweera, and Lakshman Kiriella as Senior Vice Chairmen of the party, while P. Harrison, Thalatha Atukorale, Gayantha Karunatilleka, A.H.M. Haleem, Dilip Wedaarachchi, Sujeewa Senasinghe, Harin Fernando, and Chandrani Bandara have been appointed as Vice Chairpersons. In addition, the SJB appointed several secretaries: Eran Wickramaratne as the Secretary – Research and Development, Niroshan Priyantha Perera as the Secretary – International Affairs, and President’s Counsels Thisath Wijegunawardana and Farman Cassim as Secretaries – Legal. Ashok Abeysinghe, Rohini Kumari Wijerathna, and Nalin Bandara were among the newly appointed Deputy Secretaries, while Ajith P. Perera was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer. In addition, Buddhika Pathirana and J.C. Alawathuwala have been appointed as Deputy National Organisers.
