SJB may unite with UNP to topple the Govt.: Thalatha Atukorale
If it is deemed necessary to present a united common front to topple the incumbent Government, and if Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa makes a decision on the same, it may lead to a situation where the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will unite with the United National Party (UNP), SJB MP Thalatha Atukorale told The Morning.
However, when queried about the rumours of 10 SJB members considering joining the UNP over displeasure regarding the behavior of some close associates of the Opposition Leader, Athukorale stated that she is not aware of such claims.
Meanwhile, The Morning also spoke to SJB MP Eran Wickramaratne who said that “it is a waste of time to reply to such allegations.”
Earlier today, a popular media outlet had claimed that 10 members of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya were preparing to join the United National Party (UNP) due to the behavior of some close associates of the Opposition Leader.
Allegations included that a person connected to the Government, a woman and another person are those accused of controlling the Opposition Leader.
