SL participates in Paris international tourism trade fair

BY Dinitha Rathnayake The annual international French tourism trade fair (IFTM Top Resa 2021) will commence today (5) in Paris, France, with Sri Lanka also attending the event this year. Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and a delegation left the island yesterday (4) to participate in the event. The tourism trade fair, which will be held in Paris until 8 October, will be attended by a large number of tourism professionals from around the world. The IFTM Top Resa exhibition is France’s professional tourism trade show covering trade, entertainment, and groups. The IFTM expo is a meeting place and a supporter of trade opportunities, with the French tourism market as well as the international tourism industry attracting high-profile professionals with the ability to make new customer relations and trade deals along with opportunities for relationship-building, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). Sri Lanka has been participating in this trade fair for many years and in 2019, 28 Sri Lankan travel agencies participated in this exhibition. With the participation of over 200 destinations, 1,700 brands, and 34,000 travel professionals, this year’s trade fair will feature around 150 sessions. During his stay in France, Ranatunga will also hold discussions with representatives from Air France. Air France’s plans to launch new flights to Sri Lanka from 1 November will be discussed at this meeting. In addition, Ranatunga is scheduled to hold discussions with the French Tourism Minister on the promotion of tourism between France and Sri Lanka. Discussions will also be held with French and Sri Lankan businesses on expanding investment opportunities in the country as well.
