The Speaker’s Office yesterday (11) stated that Speaker Karu Jayasuriya would be releasing the forensic audit (FA) reports during the next parliamentary session.
The Speaker’s Office informed The Sunday Morning that the Speaker wanted to release the FA reports as soon as possible and would do so at the next parliamentary session.
Several parliamentarians including JVP MP Bimal Rathnayake asserted that Parliament was not bound to follow the advice of the Attorney General (AG).
“Parliament is not duty bound to follow the instructions or the advice of the AG 100%. We are not even bound by the instructions of the Supreme Court. There have been many precedents to prove this,” he told The Sunday Morning.
