Sports Ministry to conduct investigation on missing Wrestling Association VP

There will be an investigation on the Sri Lanka Wrestling Association Vice President and Manager of the Lankan team, Donald Indrawansa, said Director General of Sports Development Amal Edirisooriya yesterday (11).

Indrawansa went missing during Sri Lanka campaign at the World Senior Wrestling recently in Oslo, Norway.

* National basketball trials end in Colombo

Sri Lanka’s men’s basketball players on Sunday (10) ended their trials for the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Championship that will be worked off in Dhaka, Bangladesh next month.

Conducted over two weekends, the trials included 40 players. The number of players was pruned down to 20 and will be further reduced to 15 later. The national selection panel will announce the final pool in due course.

Along with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan will take part in the competition.

The top three teams will then qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup Pre-Qualifier.
