Sri Lanka expect to inoculate 600,000 persons daily against COVID-19: State Minister

State Minister Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle said today that the health authorities expect to inoculate 600,000 Sri Lankans on a daily basis against COVID-19. Speaking at a news briefing held today, the State Minister of Primary Health Care Epidemics and COVID Disease Control said they expect to inoculate common citizens in early March. "We will receive 4.2 million of vaccines from the WHO and we have placed an order for another 9 million AstraZeneca vaccines from India at a cost of Rs.10 billion. The first round of vaccines to arrive in mid-February or early March and we hope to commence vaccination in the 1st week of March," she said. She said plans have been made to establish 4,000 vaccination centres covering the country. "We expect to inoculate 600,000 people per day at 2,000 centers. We can do it in short period of time," she said.
