11 Oct 2021

The manager in charge of the Sri Lankan Wrestling team has "disappeared" in Norway. Sri Lanka Wrestling Association (SLWA) President Sarath Hewawitharana said that Team Manager Donald Indrawansa had left the team and gone missing during the World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway. Speaking to The Morning, Mr Hewawitharana said that the Manager has suddenly "disappeared" and no one seems to know where he is and what happened to him. "No one knows what happened to him. He suddenly disappeared the day before he was due to travel back with the team. The rest of the team has returned, but as for the manager, investigations are currently underway. These actions are not of true sportsmanship, and we will not condone such acts," said Hewawitharana. The team had complained that they were unable to do their PCR tests as the manager has had the funds in his possession. The SLWA sent a six-member contingent for the 17th World Wrestling Championships which was held in Oslo in Norway from the 2nd to the 10th of October.
