Sri Lankan envoy presents credentials to President Mamady Doumbouya of Guinea

Sri Lanka Ambassador-designate Veluppillai Kananathan presented the Letter of Credence appointing him as the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Guinea with residence in Kenya, to His Excellency Mamady Doumbouya, President of Guinea at the Presidential Palace in Conakry on 11th March,2022. Following the official ceremony, the President engaged in a conversation with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka. Ambassador briefed the President on the internal situation including post-covid economic recovery in Sri Lanka. Further, President and the High Commissioner exchanged views on the status of diplomatic relations between the two countries and recognised the need to activate the relations with beneficial areas of cooperation for mutual interest. Ambassador Veluppillai Kananathan who is a well-known entrepreneur in Africa for than 35 years has maintained close connections with Guinea. President Mamady Doumbouya said that he knew that Ambassador Kananathan was an Adviser on Investments to the former President of Guinea Alpha Condé and appreciated his efforts to facilitate foreign direct investments to Guinea in the areas of maize cultivation and sugar industry, under the Investment Promotion Agency of Guinea APIP - GUINEA. The President invited more Sri Lankan investors to invest in diverse fields such as agriculture, manufacturing, mining, energy and hydraulic, ICT, construction, infrastructure and logistics to exploit the most advantageous and gainful terms and conditions presented for FDIs in Guinea. At the conclusion of the meeting, the President wished the Ambassador every success in promoting bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Guinea, and assured him of the Guinean government’s fullest support and cooperation.
