Sri Lanka's first test captain in critical condition

08 Oct 2021

Former Sri Lanka test captain Bandula Warnapura is currently receiving treatment at an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Colombo, The Morning learns. Warnapura had been admitted to hospital 3 days ago after suffering from a sudden unexplained illness. Dismissing claims of being infected with Covid, sources told The Morning that Warnapura has had an untreated diabetic wound on his right leg which led to an amputation and is currently on a ventilator. He had the honour of leading Sri Lanka as the captain when the first test match playing team was formed.
