SriLankan A320 damaged while on the ground in Malé

A SriLankan Airlines Airbus A320 Neo aircraft bearing registration number 4R-ANB was damaged on the ground in Velana International Airport, Malé yesterday (21). The aircraft’s horizontal stabilizer sustained damages when a ground service vehicle collided with it while parked on the ramp. The A320 Neo was operating flight as UL115, departing Colombo at 13:13 local time. It arrived in Malé after a flight time of one hour and nine minutes. The aircraft was scheduled to operate the return flight UL116, departing at 15:05. The aircraft involved in the accident was delivered to SriLankan Airlines in May 2017 and is one of only four narrowbody aircraft currently active in the airline’s fleet. According to SriLankan Airlines, The SriLankan Engineering team based in Malé is working to replace the affected parts and return the aircraft to service.
