The Dambulla Municipal Council (MC) was last week in the limelight over a move to introduce a tax for pet dogs from January 2022.
Reports on social media stated that the Dambulla Mayor had sent a note to all council members of a proposal that is to be presented at the next council session to introduce a tax on pet dogs within the Council’s area. Accordingly, the payment is to be made mandatory from 31 January 2022.
