The Parliament of Sri Lanka is now in a power saving mode due to the ongoing power crisis, it is learnt.Accordingly, steps are being taken to replace the existing light bulbs with energy saving bulbs as well as to switch off lights in areas of the House that are not in frequent use. Steps have also been taken to turn off the water fountains in front of the Parliament Complex.Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abyewardena recently directed the Parliament officials to take steps to conserve power and energy in the House. Meanwhile, several Opposition parliamentarians had also pointed out areas that needed to be looked at in relation to power conservation in the House.
