The Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya (Our Power of People Party [OPPP]) has initiated legal action against its sole parliamentarian Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera over the latter failing to adhere to the party’s call to vacate the National List slot.
Following the controversy that took place over the single National List slot secured by the OPPP at the last general election, the party decided to rotate the slot between Ven. Rathana Thera and Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera, as had been purportedly agreed upon during the last general election.
OPPP National Organiser Dr. Susantha Kodithuwakku had said: “We have sent all the legal documents about taking disciplinary action and have sought his reasons for betraying the party in this manner.”
