Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa last Tuesday (11) telephoned former Maldivian President and incumbent Speaker Mohomad Nasheed’s father to inquire after Nasheed’s health. 
Nasheed is receiving ICU treatment after being injured in a bomb blast that took place near his residence in Male on 6 May.
Nasheed was subjected to a 16-hour surgery and has since been treated in the ICU.
The Prime Minister during the conversation with Nasheed’s father Abdul Sathar, has wished Nasheed a speedy recovery and had expressed solidarity with the former Maldivian President. Rajapaksa has also expressed the preparedness of the Sri Lankan Government to assist Nasheed in any way he required.
Nasheed was the President of the Maldives during Prime Minister Rajapaksa’s tenure as President of Sri Lanka (2008-2012).
