A suspect wanted in connection with the theft of rice worth Rs. 250,000 from a supermarket in Mt. Lavinia has been identified by the police.
The suspect was arrested yesterday (13) in possession of 4 grams and 100 milligrams of heroin during a police raid near the Mount Lavinia Railway Station.
He was later interrogated and it was revealed that he had stolen rice.
He had committed the theft on the 11th.
Accordingly, 5 bags of rice containing 5 kg each were found in the suspect's possession.
A suspect and a woman were arrested along with 8 other bags of rice in two shops for selling stolen rice.
The arrested suspects are aged 34, 33 and 39.
