Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today stated that a suspect was arrested in Gonakandeniya in Ruwanwella for the possession of two fake Rs. 1,000 notes.
He had been handed over to the magistrate court and while questioned, the suspect had stated that he had come into the possession of the fake notes from a petrol station.
Police Spokesman stated that due to insufficient evidence, the suspect was still under custody while investigations were continuing.
He also warned the public to check for the serial number and the watermark of the notes they receive from shops and other places to ascertain that they are not fake notes.
