The Sub Inspector and the Police Sergeant who were traveling in a vehicle with a suspect who leaped out of the said vehicle have been suspended in connection with the incident.
Action was taken as it was observed that no proper measures had been taken regarding the security of a suspect, Police Media Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana stated.
The sub-inspector and the police sergeant had stated that the suspect had opened the back door of the jeep and jumped out of the jeep.
He was later admitted to the Panadura Hospital and was released on bail.
The suspect died at around 6.30 pm yesterday.
He was arrested by the Panadura North Police at around 9 am yesterday (06) for violating travel restrictions in the Wattapola area.
Investigations are underway under the direction of a Superintendent of Police.
The deceased was a 42-year-old man.
