Suspension of sand transportation licence to continue until further notice: Bandula

Suspension of the sand transportation licence is to continue, until a report is received by the a committee appointed to observe the results of the aforementioned cabinet decision, Cabinet Spokesperson Bandula Gunawardan said today.
On the 4 of December, the cabinet decided to scrap off the licence required to transport sand, clay and gravel to facilitate the construction industry. The Government also said that it had appointed a committee to monitor and observe the results of its newest decision. Gunawardana last week said based on the observations, this week, the cabinet will decide whether the decision will be carried forward. However, at today cabinet press briefing Gunawardana noted that the report on the observations has not yet been submitted by the committee and that they would further need more time to observe the fluctuations in prices of construction material.
